About the Neighborhood
Green Hills runs along Hillsboro Pike south of downtown, with Vanderbilt, Belmont and Lipscomb all close by and Hillsboro Village just across I-440. Homes started going up here in the 1930s, and the area really grew after World War II, mostly brick ranches on large lots. A lot of those lots have since been rebuilt with newer, larger homes.
The Mall at Green Hills started as a strip center in the early 1950s and now has Nordstrom and an Apple Store, and the Bluebird Cafe on Hillsboro Pike is where a lot of Nashville songwriters got their start. It is still where I send people who want to be close to everything.
